San Pedro de Atacama Optional Tours

Archaeological Tour.

We leave the hotel to visit Tulor’s Village which is around 3.000 years old and its architecture was made with circular clay constructions. After that, we visit the Atacama’s fortress known as Pukará de Quitor, which was built in the XII century. The Pukará de Quitor’s ruins show us the great social organization that the Atacama’s ancestors had against the Spanish conquers. These ruins are located at the slope of a small hill, which gave them a strategical location.

Operates: Daily AM

Duration: 3 hours

Astronomical Tour.

Live this experience under one of the best skies in the world. The tour begins with a 20-minute talk in which we learn basic concepts of astronomy, then look at the sky in order to learn to identify the cardinal points and some zodiacal constellations and finish by observing through telescopes and binoculars in the open field and identify planets, binary stars and others. Return to the hotel.

Duration: 2 hours

To keep in mind: It is suspended on full moon nights since the brightness and luminosity of the sky do not allow astronomical observation
